Los Remedios-Ecatepec Highway, Mexico

Optimal application of NEVI Modular Formwork

The Los Remedios-Ecatepec highway, which travels over the Los Remedios river, solves the road communication in the Valley of Mexico. With a length of 25 kilometers and a work duration of 36 months, it is connected on the border with Nezahualcóyotlto the Circuito Exterior Mexiquense, whichlinks various state highways. Thanks to this project, the route, which up until now had a travel time of two hours, has been reduced to 15 minutes, therefore being a relief for more than four million drivers that circulate between the northern part of Mexico City and the rest of the state.

Among the various projects carried out, the construction of three bridges, each of them with an approximate length of 300 m, stands out. These bridged consist of 14 to 20 lintels, 1.20 m cross section, up to 3.30 m high and a maximum length of 43 m. NEVI was the vertical formwork system used in the construction of piers, pier caps and foundations. Its lightness allowed for manual handling without the need for a crane. The strong formwork units were safely supported by BRIO shoring towers of different heights, from the beginning of the bridge up to 8 m.
