Es ist eines der größten Bauprojekte, das in den letzten Jahren in Nordrhein-Westfalen in Angriff genommen wurden: Eine neue Generation von Wärmekraftwerken, das erste in Datteln.

Die Bauarbeiten starteten die Verbesserungsphase der Station Rheinhafen in Karlsruhe mit der Erweiterung um eine neue Anlage, die RDK 8 (Rheinhafen- Dampfkraftwerk Block 8), für die Versorgung mit Kohle.

The Petronor refinery, with more than 40 years of activity, is the plant with the most capacity in the peninsula, and one of the most important in Europe. This refinery has begun a modernization plan, focused on increasing competitiveness on a national and international level. Known as the URF Project (Units for the Reduction of Fuel Oil or Coke Plant), it contemplates the adjustment of the refinery´s production structure for the reduction of fuel oil consumption, in line with the growing evolution in the demand of diesel oil, gasoline, and liquid gases. It also increases the supply guarantee of raw materials, given that it enables access to more abundant types of crudes, and a new solid product is obtained—petroleum coke.

With an approximate production capacity of 1,100 tons per day, the aim of this new plant is to produce 40% of the company´s cement, as well as to supply the domestic demand and exports for the USA and Europe.
